Crucial Piece of Evidence Missing-Deanie's Diary

Posted by find_dean_marie at 03:48 PM on November 26, 2009 Comments comments (0)

More information has come up in Deanie's disappearance. It turns out there was an altercation between Deanie and a couple other people over a boy.

The lead suspect who knew one of the girls in the altercation is now deceased, and probably took to the grave with him naything he knew about Dean's vanishing.

But a crucial part in the investigation-Dean's diary- is missing and the cold case team really needs it. A $25,000 reward is up for grabs to anyone who knows who is responsible for Dean's disappearance or for an answer to her whereabouts. It seems like the investigation is taking steps up, as they now have names of the two people she had got in a fight with. Cross your fingers that maybe this is something.

I found the first news article ever written on Dean's disappearance.  It's very interesting to read that, and think that she has now been missing for over a quarter of century. It's posted below:

"Police Hunt For Missing Cascade Girl

February 7, 1981

Area police Saturday were distributing photographs of a 14-year old Cascade girl who has been missing since Thursday afternoon. Deanie Peters, an eighth-grader at Forest Hills Central Middle School, was last seen by her mother about 4:45 p.m. Thursday when she excused herself to go to a restroom during an after school program at the school, 5810 Ada Dr. S.E.

Deanie is the daughter of Mary Peters and the stepdaughter of John Peters of 2541 Pebblebrook Drive S.E. Deanie's legal name is Dean Marie Pyle. School authorities and staff had scoured the middle school building for traces of Deanie that afternoon and into the evening. "She said she had to go to the bathroom", said Middle school principal Ted Culver. "She never showed up...never found her again."

Kenneth Kleinheksel, a detective sergeant with the Kent County Sheriff's Department, said police knew of no reason for the disappearence. "I can't detect any family problems at this time," he said. "She left her wallet home. She's a pretty girl and she'd never go anywhere without makeup," he said.

When last seen, Deanie was wearing a brown ski jacket, pink sweater, blue jeans, and a cream colored scarf with the word "ski" written on it in dark brown lettering. Culver said it was first assumed the girl may have attended one of several school events that were occurring that evening. But after a thorough search of the grounds, no trace of the girl was found. Culver said he contacted students Thursday night whom he thought may have seen the girl late Thursday afternoon. He said not one of the students could place her near the school restrooms. "People had seen her around that afternoon," Culver said, "but you know how it is...you never expect anything to go wrong." She just disappeared, just gone," said Kleinheksel, who said the department was alerted at 6:42 p.m Thursday.

Culver said Kleinheksel had been working "tirelessly" since the case since Thursday. Kleinheksel said he had contacted school authorities, classmates, hotel and gas station personnel. Her natural father, who lives in California also was contacted, he said. "There is no reason for her to go out there," he said.

Anyone with information about the missing girl should call the Sheriff's Department at 774-7113. "

55 Years Later, Boulder Jane Doe Case Solved-Her name is Dorothy Howard

Posted by find_dean_marie at 11:23 PM on November 01, 2009 Comments comments (0)

This young woman's story just blows my mind. Her name is Dorothy Gay Howard. She was 18 when she left Phoenix, AR for Colorado.

But for 55 years, no one even knew what her name was.

In March 1954, she was found in Boulder, Colorado in a canyon, her body nude and battered. She was left to die, exposed to the elements. Half a week later, two college students stumbeled upon her body. She was buried in the community as 'Jane Doe', but even years later, local residents didn't give up and had a skeletal reconstruction of her done. Now, it is official through DNA analysis, that 55 years later, Dorothy Howard is our Boulder Jane Doe.

Her killer is thought to be serial killer "The Lonely Hearts Killer', Harvey Glatman, who was executed in 1959 for multiple rapes and murders.

Dorothy is such a beautiful young woman-even prettier than Marilyn Monroe! It's a shame it has taken this long-I know she must have had loved one out there who died without ever knowing what became of her.

The bottom line is though, many cold cases are being solved woth our technology, and that is a good thing. I hope that Dean's family & friends will read these updated blogs, and I hope it will inspire hope in their hearts that their little girl Deanie can be brought home sooner than later. Never give up.

Dean & Many Others on Oprah

Dean Peters and many others were featured on Oprah today. I was pleased with how many cold cases were featured, but it would've have been  better if more of the cold cases were in detail. Oh, well. Any publicity for Dean helps, especially on Oprah.

Jaycee Dugard-God's Miracle Child

Posted by find_dean_marie at 11:23 AM on August 30, 2009 Comments comments (0)

FOUND ALIVE 18 YRS. LATER!

Jaycee Lee Dugard went missing at 11 years old on June 10, 1991 in South Lake Tahoe, CA. She was literally randomly abducted off the streets in front of her home by a man in a woman & forced into their car, never to be seen again.

In August 2009, she was discovered in Antioch, CA alive. Her abductors, Phillip & Nancy Garrido had been holding her captived inside of a shed in their backyard. Phillip had fathered Jaycee's two daughters as well. The Garridos are being arrested and Jaycee is finally being reunited with her long time searching family.

This story is an amazing one. First off, I am disgusted at the fact this poor woman has lived 18 years of her life in a shed. Second, I was horrified when I learned her rapist/abductor had fathered her children and had her raise them in a shed!

On a flip side, Jaycee has just lit the candles of hope for the families of the missing all around the world! I hate to say it, but many may have given up the possibility she was still alive. Time does that to you. But it proves no matter how old and cold a case is, never give up hope that your loved one is still out there alive, waiting to be found.

I'm hoping somewhere out there, Dean's loved ones have heard Jaycee's story and have renewed hope that Dean too could be out there alive and well, waiting or us to bring her home.

Is Dean Peters an Unidentified Texas Jane Doe?

Posted by find_dean_marie at 01:15 PM on August 13, 2009 Comments comments (1)

It has been brought to my attention on a forum that a UID Texas Jane Doe has a striking similarity to missing girl Dean Marie Pyle Peters. The criteria even fits together.

In my opinion, the shape of the nose, chin, and face are very similar. The lips are simialr too. Of course, the hair is slightly different and they eyes are as well but sketches aren't always 100%. And for the cirteria:

*Dean went missing: Feb. 5, 1981 & Jane Doe was found: Jan. 1, 1984, but it is estimated Jane Doe was dead 1 year prior to discovery.

*Dean went missing from Grand Rapids, MI. Jane DOe was found in Orange County, TX. The distance is far, but there are a number of ways she could have ended up in Texas as well.

*Dean is a white female, as is Jane Doe.

*Dean went missing at 14 years old. Jane Doe was estimated to be 14-18 years old. This fits in with the criteria of Dean's age she went missing, and the age she was found if she is this Jane Doe.

*Dean was 5'3"  & 110 lbs. at time of disappearance, Jane Doe is estimated to be 4'10"-5'2".

*Dean's hair is brown, as is Jane Doe's hair.

*Jane Doe was wearing a white terry cloth short sleeved shirt when found & had previously worn braces.

I wonder if Dean ever had braces? I think it may be worht a shot reporting this comaprison. I'd love for Dean to come home well and alive, but she needs to be found one way or another. What doe you think of this comparison?

Jeannie Melville-Sign of Hope

Posted by find_dean_marie at 09:02 PM on August 07, 2009 Comments comments (0)

The case of 18 year old Jeannie Melville certainly gives hope for Dean's case. This young woman went missing in August 1970 when she hopped on a bus in Green Bay, WI to go visit her aunt in Darke County. She never made it beyond Richmond.

In October 11, 1970, a young woman's nude body was found in a cornfield in southern Darke County, but it was not until 2008, that those same remains were exhumed and identified to be Jeannie Melville. It is beyond me why it took over 40 years to match a missing girl's identity to her remains when they were found in the same vicinty she was last seen at. The remains were even found close to the time she first vanished.

This just proves how easily things can be overlooked. It gives hope that Dean will be found!

Proof that a Case is never too Old to be Solved!

EVERTT RUESS

Everett Ruess was missing since November 1934 in the Escsalante Canyon, UT. He had dreams of becoming a painter. He was last seen in the canyon country or South Utah. Three months later his burros, halter, bridle and wrappers were found. Searchers followed tracks that disappeared. He seeminlgy vanished into thin air.

75 years later, his baffling case is finally solved! A pile of bones found in a crevice near Comb Ridge SE Utah was proven by DNA to be the remains of Everett Ruess. There are some skeptics out there, but with where he was found I think they've finally got him.

This just goes to show that there is no time limit to solving cases like these. If a case over 75 years old can be solved, I don't want to hear anyone say that Dean's can be solved either. We can't lose hope!
